Adoptions Application

Thank you for your interest in my beautiful babies. I have loved and cared for these little ones to ensure that they will be a great part of your family. To make sure that they will be going to a fabulous new home, please contact me: Christie at SugarGliderStitchery@hotmail.com to begin the adoption process.

Steps to a Happy Adoption:

  1. Make sure that it is legal in your municipality to own a sugar glider.  It is legal in all Canadian provinces except Saskatchewan where they are illegal to own, however some municipal by-laws have restrictions.  Also if you are renting, take the necessary steps to ensure that your gliders will be able to stay in their new home.
  2. If you are a minor, consent from your parent or guardian is needed.
  3. Learn about how to care for your gliders. Learn about their habits, diets, socialization and equipment needs. Be aware of situations that may cause them stress and how they show distress, illness or other problems. Source a vet in your area that works with sugar gliders
  4. Fill out the Adoption Questionnaire. (Link to Adoption Questionnaire).
  5. Once your Adoption Application is approved, your name will be added to our list of potential new glider families.
  6. A non-refundable deposit is required to hold and adopt a baby sugar glider - a joey - along with the signed Sugar Glider Stitchery Adoption contract. (Link to the Contract Preview).
  7. Joeys can leave their families when they are completely weaned, 9 to 10 weeks Out Of Pouch (OOP). Male sugar gliders are neutered.  Female sugar gliders are sold as "pets only" without breeding rights; unless you would like a breeding female and completed the necessary contract.  (Prices are higher for breeding sugar gliders.)
  8. Prepare in advance for the arrival of your new sugar glider. Your sugar glider will come with: a Cage Set ($50 value), and a small toy to get you started. You will be required to provide a cage, a glider safe wheel, water source and additional enrichment items for your new arrivals.

Wishing you a Sweet Journey to your new sugar glider!
